Private Surf Lesson with Hawaiian Lifeguard Coach

The private surf lesson at Kahalu’u Bay in Kailua-Kona provides a unique opportunity to learn or enhance surfing skills with a professional Hawaiian lifeguard surf coach. This 2-hour full course includes up to 15 minutes of classroom coaching at the Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors (HLSI) headquarters, followed by up to 2 hours of surf time in the bay.

Course Itinerary and Details

• 7:00 AM: Check-in and classroom instruction at 75-5909 Ali’i Drive, Kailua-Kona HI 96740
• 7:20 AM: Self-transport to Kahalu’u Bay beach park
• 7:45 AM: Arrival and check-in with instructor at the bay
• 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Private surf session
• 9:45 AM: Return gear, optional photo opportunity, gratuity; showers and restrooms available
• 10:00 AM: Departure (self-transport)

Included Equipment and Amenities

The lesson includes a surfboard with leash, surf shirt, water shoes, and optionally a life jacket for children under 60 lbs. Towels and sunscreen are provided, and beverages and snacks are available for purchase in the classroom. Returning students may skip the classroom session for direct bay check-in.

Additional Information

The course is suitable for ages 5 and up with a group size of one student per session. The cancellation policy allows free changes if made at least 2 days in advance; otherwise, full charges apply.
