About the AIDA 3 Advanced Freediving Course

The AIDA 3 advanced freediving course in Honolulu offers three days of intensive training designed to build on previous freediving knowledge. This course deepens theory, refines technique, and enhances safety skills through supervised open-water sessions near Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon in Waikiki.

Course Duration and Schedule

The course spans three days with the following schedule: Day 1 from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and Days 2 and 3 from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The exact order of activities may adjust based on ocean conditions and student progress.

Training Focus

Participants develop advanced skills including free fall, Frenzel equalization, training-table use, pressure awareness, static and dynamic apnea, free immersion, constant weight diving, advanced buddy procedures, and rescue techniques. Open-water training occurs at depths tailored to each student’s ability, up to a maximum of 30 meters (100 feet), though reaching maximum depth is not guaranteed.

Prerequisites and Certification

• Current AIDA 2 certification or approved crossover
• Minimum age of 18, or 16-17 with parental consent
• Required swimming ability
• English speaking and reading skills

Certification is awarded only after successful completion of all theory, confined-water, open-water, safety, rescue, and performance requirements.

What to Bring

Bring a wetsuit, reef-safe sunscreen, water, yoga mat or towel, change of clothes, notepad, and slippers or sandals. Fins, mask, snorkel, and weight belt are provided. Wetsuit rentals should be arranged before the course day. The course includes 1-2 professional underwater photos.
