Haleiwa Shark Tours Cage Diving Experience

Owned and operated by Native Hawaiians Kala Alexander and Makua Rothman, Haleiwa Shark Tours provides the North Shore’s only authentic cage-diving adventure. Hawaii is home to approximately 40 shark species that maintain ocean health by removing sick and injured animals. These sharks, known as mano, are revered as powerful apex predators and spiritual family gods (‘aumākua) in Hawaiian culture.

During the tour, you will learn about the shark god Kamohoali’i and the cultural uses of sharks in ancient Hawaii, including making drums and weapons from shark skin and teeth. The tour motors just three miles out from Haleiwa, sharing legends of sharks as protectors and spiritual counselors. This experience offers a unique blend of marine biology and Hawaiian history.
