Junior Freediver Course Overview
This course introduces young freedivers and spearfishermen to safe and responsible freediving practices. Students build watermanship skills and knowledge through classroom sessions, confined water training, and an open water dive at Two Step.
The curriculum is adapted by grade school teaching professionals to be engaging and fun, integrating games and activities that teach fundamental freediving skills and safety protocols. Students are trained to dive to a maximum depth of 50 feet (15 meters).

Schedule
- Day 1: 7:45 AM – 12:00 PM classroom session, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM confined water training
- Day 2: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM open water dive, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM final exam and lunch
Additional Information
Arrive at Kona Honu Divers by 7:45 AM on Day 1; waivers must be signed in advance. Personal freediving gear is required but available for rent or purchase. Participants must be in good health with no heart conditions and may need physician approval.
