Self-Guided Kayak Adventure to Kaneohe Bay Sandbar
Imagine gliding over crystal-clear water with vibrant reef and sea life visible beneath the surface. The Kaneohe Bay Sandbar Self-Guided Kayak Experience offers breathtaking views of the Ko’olau mountains and the rare opportunity to stand in the middle of the ocean.
Begin with a scenic 25-minute drive to He’eia Kea Boat Harbor, where convenient parking and restrooms are available. Launch your kayak from the designated spot left of the parking lot for safety. Paddle at your own pace, exploring reefs and snorkeling along the way to the sandbar approximately 45 minutes southeast.
Attach your floating rope to your kayak and wear the other end on your wrist to keep your kayak nearby when you exit. Return by paddling back to the harbor and drop off your gear at the adventure hub in Kailua.
