Close Encounters: Manta Edition Dive in Puako

Discover Hawai’i’s surreal manta ray encounter during this two-hour dive off Puako, away from Kona’s crowded sites. Divers descend below as manta rays glide silently overhead, sometimes brushing your head. Snorkelers float at the surface, experiencing close, belly-to-belly interactions with the mantas.

The small group size of up to six guests ensures an intimate experience with respect for the ocean. All gear is included, though guests may bring their own. The boat departs 60 minutes before sunset from South Kawaihae Small Boat Harbor.

Sample agenda:

• 5:00pm – Meet at the boat
• 5:30pm – Boat departure
• 7:30pm – Return to harbor

Requirements: Certified divers only; proof of certification required. Newly certified divers are welcome.

Manta Guarantee: If mantas are not seen, guests may return at no charge until successful. Rescheduling is available for inclement weather, with refunds or credits if rescheduling is not possible.
