The Maunakea Summit & Stars Giveback Experience invites guests to participate in conservation efforts before ascending to Maunakea’s summit for sunset and stargazing. This journey supports the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative by collecting native seeds to help restore endangered dry forest habitats.

Conservation and Cultural Engagement

Before the summit, visit a rare native dry forest habitat and learn about revitalization efforts. Each ticket includes a $20 donation to the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative. After conservation work, enjoy a warm picnic-style dinner featuring Southwest Stew or Vegetarian Chili, followed by hot chocolate and cookies for dessert.

Sunset and Stargazing at Maunakea

Delight in the Hawaiian sunset from the highest point in the Pacific. Then, participate in a private star show using a high-powered digital telescope. View deep space objects and share captured images of the Hawaiian night sky with your group.

Tour Details and Booking

This experience lasts around 9 to 10 hours and is suitable for guests aged 13 and older. Warm wear including hooded parkas and gloves is provided. A full refund is available with at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations within the period or no-shows are charged the full amount. Group size is limited to 12, with prices starting at $330.
