The PADI Rescue Diver course in Honolulu is considered the most challenging yet rewarding scuba course. It teaches divers how to prevent and manage problems in the water, increasing confidence and safety skills.
Students practice problem-solving and rescue techniques until they become second nature, with a focus on self-rescue, recognizing stress in others, emergency management, and rescuing panicked or unresponsive divers.
Eligibility requires divers to be at least 12 years old, have completed the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive, and Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within 24 months. If not completed prior, this training can be done during the course. The instructor may also offer the Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty course concurrently.
