This tour features moderate air temperatures at sea level with cooler conditions at higher elevations during the drive from Kona. Expect occasional rain showers and possible walks across uneven, rocky terrain including black lava rock. Note that red lava cannot be guaranteed and the itinerary may change without notice. The tour operates rain or shine.

Guests are required to wear comfortable clothes; shorts are acceptable, but a jacket or sweater is recommended. Sunglasses, a hat, and comfortable closed-toe shoes are mandatory as sandals, flip-flops, or “slippahs” are not permitted. If swimming is included in the itinerary, bring swimsuits, towels, and a dry set of clothing.

Participants should be able to negotiate stairs and complete walks as outlined in the itinerary. Volcanic emissions, including sulfur gas, may affect those with respiratory concerns. All ages are accommodated with state law requiring child safety seats for guests under 4 years old and booster seats for children between 4 and 7 years old under 4 feet 9 inches tall and 80 pounds. Advance notice is required for seat provision.
