The standard surf lesson lasts two hours, combining a land lesson with time in the water to catch waves. Beginner equipment such as boards, lycra rashguard shirts, and reef booties are provided, with various sizes to accommodate different riders. Advanced surfers can rent specialized boards.
Lessons take place in a sheltered bay with predictable, gentle waves breaking over a sloping reef, requiring minimal paddling. Water depth ranges from knee to chest deep, with some deeper channel areas. All participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in the ocean.
